The typical “would you rather” question with a very obvious answer. Unless I am training to develop some major muscles while hiking, I would rather take 15 extra pounds and take some extraordinary photos along the way. Carrying your entire backpack with all of your equipment in it typically ranges from 30-40 pounds, while just carrying your camera can lead to not having multiple lenses or your camera being subject to the environment including water, dust, and rocks. So, what is the solution? A travel camera bag of course!
You can try and carry your camera equipment in a purse or other bag, but there is nothing with better quality, endurance and that is made specifically for traveling like the ThinkTank Photo Equipment.I am happy to recommend the ThinkTank CityWalker 10 Travel Bag.
